Athletics

Cross Country is a great way to get in or stay in shape to start the year. Cross country is open for kindergarten through eighth grade and is our only sport open to nine grade levels. Cross country race distances range from .3 miles for kindergarten to 1.5 miles for eighth grade students.

We often combine grade level teams for soccer, starting in either third or fourth grade. Soccer practices start before the school year with matches running from early September through the end of October and games on Saturday or Sunday. 

Basketball is Westside's winter sport. Basketball is a sport that combines skills, fitness, and teamwork. Basketball is open to fourth through eighth grade students. Teams are by grade and by gender. Practices start in November, with the game season running from late November through late January, depending on playoff participation and performance. Practices are usually  twice a week.  

Volleyball season runs from late winter to early spring. Volleyball is another sport that combines skills and teamwork. Volleyball is open to fourth through eighth grade students. Teams are by grade and by gender, with the exception of fourth grade, which is co-ed. Practices start at the beginning of February with regular season games beginning in late February and ending in late March, with playoffs running until mid-April. Practices are usually twice a week.  

Track and field is Westside's spring sport. We have had great success in track, which includes sprints, distance running, relays, and field events. Track is open to fourth through eighth grade students. Practices start in mid to late April and Meets are in May.
