Math with the Pack

Math with the Pack is a celebration of the creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving that define math at Westside. During this schoolwide experience, students work in mixed-age Wolfpack buddy groups and travel to activity stations across campus to explore hands-on math games and challenges.

In the weeks leading up to the event, each grade level designed their own math activities during class. On the day of Math with the Pack, students took the lead by teaching the games, explaining the rules, and guiding their buddies through the challenges. It was a chance for students to share their thinking and step into the role of teacher while learning from one another.

Each station highlights a different kind of mathematical thinking happening in our classrooms, from building number sense in the early grades to exploring strategy, probability, and algebraic reasoning in middle school. The activities emphasize communication, critical thinking, and teamwork, showing that meaningful mathematical learning can emerge from games, puzzles, and collaborative problem-solving.

This page is a collection of many of the games and activities students experienced during Math with the Pack. We hope families will explore them together at home and continue the fun of learning math through play. Games were chosen by grade level but are designed for students and grown-ups of all ages to enjoy.
