Welcome to the Westside Family HUB

This is your starting point for the resources you'll use throughout the school year. Here you'll find quick access to important information such as calendars, forms, Veracross, Extended Day, hot lunch, athletics, spiritwear, and other commonly used family resources.

Looking for classroom updates, teacher communications, or grade-level information? Visit your Classroom Hub for news and resources specific to your student's class. For student records, schedules, report cards, and directory information, log in to the Veracross Family Portal. You can also access many of these resources through the Westside Mobile app for convenient, on-the-go access.

We recommend bookmarking both the Family Hub and your Classroom Hub(s) so you'll always have the information you need just a click away.

ALERTS & PUSH NOTIFICATIONS FOR EMAILS & NEWS

If you didn't set up your alerts and push notifications while setting up the app, or if you would like to change your settings, you can do so anytime.

Step 1: Select the "settings" icon in the upper right corner of the app

Step 2: Select Notifications

Step 3: Subscribe to school mailing lists to get alerts when emails are sent out.

Step 4: Subscribe to News to receive alerts when it's posted

SUBSCRIBE TO CALENDARS

The app allows families to view multiple calendars and easily choose which ones to display. Follow these steps to customize your calendar view:

Step 1: Tap the "Calendars" icon at the bottom of the app.

Step 2: Tap the filter icon in the top right corner.

Step 3: Select the calendars you’d like to see, and toggle off any you don’t need.

Step 4: You can add individual calendar events to your personal calendar by clicking on the event and pressing "Add to Calendar."

Step 3 - Classroom HUBS

Each Early Learning and Lower School classroom, as well as Middle School, now has its own Classroom Hub. These pages serve as a central place for classroom updates, newsletters, and division-wide communications.

To protect the privacy of our community, each hub is password-protected. The password was shared with families in our summer communications. If you need help accessing your Classroom Hub, please contact Shoshannah Hoffman.

Please do not share Classroom Hub passwords outside of the Westside community.

School Procedures

DROP-OFF (PK-8)

Drop-Off Windows

Preschool: Doors open 8:30 am, class starts 8:45 am. Preschool families can park in the lot or surrounding neighborhood and bring their student to their classroom door.
Pre-Kindergarten: Doors open 8:15 am, class starts 8:30 am.
Kindergarten-8th Grade: Doors open 8:15 am, class starts 8:30 am.

Dropping Off in Front of School

Enter the lot by making a left turn coming up from 32nd Ave SW or 33rd Ave SW. Please do not take a right turn into the lot from 104th Ave SW. This helps with traffic congestion.

Dropping Off on 34th Ave

You may drop off your student on 34th Ave SW. This lane is for drop-off only; there is no parking on either side of 34th Ave SW during drop-off or pickup. Please make sure to pull all the way forward to allow for other cars to drop off.

PICKUP (PK-8)

Pickup Times

Please plan to arrive at your child’s scheduled dismissal time. Families who arrive early may be asked to circle the block until the previous group has finished dismissal.

Preschool: 2:45 pm - park and sign out at the preschool building.
Pre-K – 2nd Grade: 3:00 pm (line opens 2:50 pm)
3rd & 4th Grade: 3:15 pm (line opens 3:10 pm)
5th – 8th Grade: 3:30 pm (line opens 3:25 pm)

Dismissal Steps for Grades PK-8th Grade:

1. Car Placards: Please place your family placard on your dashboard so staff can see it easily. This is essential for keeping pick-up running smoothly. If you need another copy, please email Maryanne Olstead.

2. Pick-up Line: The line starts at the school entrance, goes up 104th Ave., and wraps around onto 34th Ave. SW. Enter the line in order—please do not cut in (see map below).

3. Check-In: When you arrive, a staff member will enter your child’s name into our dismissal system. Please be sure they see you so your child is sent to the correct cone.

Do Not Park in the Pickup Line

Please do not park in the pickup line form 2:30-3:45 pm. This includes the top of the stairs on 34th Ave SW.

Sibling Pick-up

Families with multiple dismissal times may pick up all children at the later dismissal time. Preschool siblings will join aftercare until pickup.

Walking Up

If you prefer to skip the carline and walk to pick up your child, please park in the neighborhood and wait at the top of the stairs. A staff member will walk your child across the street.

Authorized Pick-up

Students may only leave with adults listed on their authorized pickup list. Updates must be sent in writing to attendance@westsideschool.org.

Good Neighbor Policy

We intend to be courteous, respectful neighbors. We ask our families to be mindful of fire hydrants, driveways, and speed limits. Please do not park on the west side of 34th Ave SW (across from the school's main entrance) under any circumstance – even if it’s just for a short time.

PRESCHOOL PROCEDURES

Preschool Before Care

Drop off for Before Care is between 7:30 and 8:00 at the main building, not the preschool building.

Regular Drop-Off

Doors open at 8:30 am; class starts at 8:45 am each day.

Preschool students should be dropped off directly at their classroom door; Nicole's classroom is at the front of the building, and Anita's classroom is at the back of the building.

Regular Pickup

The preschool day ends at 2:45 pm each day. Students should be picked up promptly from the entrance of the preschool building unless they are enrolled in aftercare.

Sibling Pickup: Families with multiple dismissal times may pick up all children at the later dismissal time. Preschool siblings will join aftercare until pickup.

Extended Day Program

Extended Day, including before care, aftercare, and expanded care during select school closure days, is available for students in PS-8th grade. Before care starts at 7:30 am and aftercare goes until 5:30 pm.

Pizza Days are the WFA's biggest fundraiser of the year and a special treat for students.

Click the calendar feed icon in the upper-right corner of the calendar, select the calendar(s) you’d like to follow, and choose the option that matches the calendar you use.

Important: Google Calendar users should use the Google iCal URL rather than the Standard iCal URL so that event times display correctly.
