Supporting Students During Ramadan

Supporting Students During Ramadan

Dear Westside Families,

Ramadan Mubarak! Westside School recognizes the diverse religious backgrounds and values represented in the school community and the importance of being sensitive to the needs of all students and personnel. Making sure that every child feels supported requires deliberate attention, and Westside sees this as an ongoing focus of our work. As Ramadan begins, it is important for us to support the well-being of all our students while providing a safe environment where they can continue practicing their religion.

Westside will support students during the month of Ramadan in several ways.

We will provide a comfortable space for students to go to instead of the designated lunchroom eating area. We will have books, games, magazines, and other things for students to enjoy during this time. Of course, it's up to the student and their family whether they choose to go there or not, but this is an option.

We will also provide a designated prayer space that is clean of clutter and has enough space for everyone to pray. To avoid calling unwanted attention, teachers will work with students to plan ahead so they can quietly slip away for prayer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
