Our Teaching Philosophy

The Early Child Education Program

Our preschool and pre-kindergarten classes provide children with a safe, comfortable environment where every student is an important individual. Children master fine and gross motor skills, and, at the same time, learn creative and pre-academic skills through play. Activities are chosen to teach art, science, math and more. Children use sensory tables, puzzles, table toys and other tools to learn these basics. They are allowed to make choices, share ideas and engage in conversation, which helps them develop self-confidence and speaking skills, learn to interact appropriately with others in a very social atmosphere, express feelings, problem solve, and honor diverse ideas, backgrounds and personalities

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is fun. Children learn in a stimulating classroom that excites them and teaches them to love learning. Curiosity has no limits, and teachers keep your child’s inquisitive desire alive. They celebrate your child’s special talents and abilities while challenging him or her to take intellectual risks.

We pay constant attention to each student’s developmental levels. Some children arrive in September knowing how to read and others are just starting to learn. Teachers help bridge this gap by working one-on-one and in small groups, allowing each child to experience success and see progress in his or her learning as the year unfolds.

Students learn by doing, and teachers teach new ideas, concepts and curriculum in a variety of ways, challenging every learning style, and showing your child that learning is fun.

First, Second, Third, and Fourth Grade

Students are encouraged to develop their own thoughts and become independent thinkers. Teachers often take the role of facilitator, talking with students instead of standing in front of them and talking at them. They emphasize the process, and children learn that how you get the answer is just as important as the answer. Students often work together in teams, which allows for a heterogeneous grouping of various skills. Students spend time learning with the whole class, as an individual with the teacher, and in problem-solving groups, and they have time to practice new skills. By third grade, children are collaborating and explaining their thinking to their classmates. They problem solve at their own pace while challenging their academic knowledge. In all of the classrooms, teachers help students to develop independent skills, not only in content, but in the process of learning.
