Preschool returns to Westside School!

The Foundations for Lifelong Learning

Preschool will return to Westside School in the fall of 2017! We welcome three and four-year-olds for a half or full day preschool experience. Our emergent curriculum is designed to foster the social-emotional foundations for academic learning. We are focused on experiential learning and inspired by a wide range of teaching practices, including Reggio Emilia.*

With a long history of early childhood education, Westside is pleased to offer a place for our youngest students again. Here, our preschool students are empowered to take an active role in their learning. Teachers observe the spontaneous interests of students and guide them to projects and learning that reflect their natural curiosity.

Classroom centers, whole and small group times serve as an avenue for each child’s social and academic development. In addition to their daily classroom experience, full-day preschool students will participate in our elementary school specialties, including music, visual arts, and world languages. Half-day preschool students will get some of the school specialties, but not all due to their shortened schedule

Daily Schedule:

Half-day and full-day options for 3 and 4-year-olds

8:00 a.m.: Extended Day Program (EDP) begins for preschool and prekindergarten
8:45 a.m.: School begins
11:45 a.m.: Lunch
12:45 p.m.: Half-day student dismissal
12:45- 2:45 p.m.: Full-day students join prekindergarten students for the afternoon
2:45 p.m.: End of day
