Support Westside

Furthering Our Mission

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Westside School depends on fundraising to supplement tuition income. These initiatives, set forth by the Board of Trustees and the Development Committee, provide critical support of the school's annual operating budget, capital expenditures, and endowment. Independent schools use fundraising as a means to maintain attainable tuition fees, achieve strategic goals, and build community. There are many ways that Westside seeks support:

The Westside School Fund

Gifts from families, friends, and alumni make up the difference between tuition income and the cost of educating our students. These unrestricted contributions give the school the ability to use the funds where they are needed the most - the academic program, faculty and staff salaries and benefits, Tuition Assistance, arts and athletics, facilities, and beyond. The goal of The Westside School Fund is 100% participation from parents, faculty and staff, and Board members. Fundraising for The Westside School Fund happens each fall beginning in October. All pledges are due before Thanksgiving and payments may be made until the end of the school year.

Spirit Auction

The Spirit Auction is our school's largest event. Each spring, the event brings Westside parents together to celebrate and raise funds to support the school. Auction items are procured from parents, local businesses, and other friends of Westside. All proceeds support the school's operating budget, Tuition Assistance, and an annual Fund-a-Wish project. Over 300 guests attend this fun evening which features online, silent, and live auctions.

Capital Campaign

When capital expenditures exceed the amount allowed by a school's operating budget, the school will launch a capital campaign. A capital campaign consists of single-, multi-year, or planned gifts designated to support specific goals, programs, and projects identified by the Board of Trustees. All families may be asked to contribute to a capital campaign during their relationship with Westside School. Plans for a new campus and capital campaign are currently underway!

Other opportunities to make a difference:

  • Westside also has an endowment for Tuition Assistance. The endowment was funded initially several years ago by a small handful of passionate and committed Westside families, who wanted to start a fund to provide assistance to families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a Westside education.
  • On occasion, there are special fundraising projects outside of The Fund for Westside and the SPIRIT Auction to support a capital need or unique project.
