Westside School Adventure Camps (K-6)

Adventure Camps are expanding! We opened additional spots for all ten weeks of Adventure Camp, so make sure you take this last chance to register! Spots are available in most camps.

June 15-19: Seattle Explorers (SOLD OUT)

            Come kick off summer at Westside School and learn how it feels to be an explorer! We’ll cover the map and follow the compass as we explore Seattle, from famous landmarks to hidden trails, we’ll find them all!

June 22-26: History and Hijinks

            Seattle is a city with a rich history of distinct, interesting, and weird stuff! We’ll ask how Seattle came to be the city we know and love today, from the Denny Party to Jimi Hendrix.

July 6-10: Wild Washington

            Summer in Washington is famously beautiful, so we’ll get out and see what the Puget Sound region has to offer. We’ll learn about the wild landscape, the wild weather, and the wildlife that surrounds us in our wild state!

July 13-17: Musicians and Artists

            Come join us for a week of the fine arts. We’ll paint, dance, and rock out, all the while learning what the masters of the arts have created in the past. Get ready to get creative, and unleash your artistic side!

July 20-24: Cultures of the World

            Many of the cultures of the world are represented here in Seattle. We’ll take the opportunity to learn about some of the diverse peoples who have come to live and thrive here, and indulge in art, music, and food from all around the world.

July 27-31: Creatures and Critters

            Have you ever held a blue-tongued skink? Seen an otter play with its toy ball? Been up close and personal with owls, parrots, and eagles? This week, we’ll do all this and much more as we meet the many creatures and critters of Seattle.

August 3-7: Iron Chef: Westside School

            Come join us for a week of culinary arts and gustatory delights as we cook and eat our way through Seattle. We’ll learn how to bake, blend, and especially taste our favorite flavors, all the while learning from experts. Bon Appetit!

August 10-14: Wild World of Sports

            From the Mariners to the Seahawks, the Sounders to the… Sonics, Seattleites live for their sports! Come learn about the greats and play and practice your own skills with us as we take it to the next level.

August 17-21: Weird and Wicked Science

            Sometimes, science seems like pure magic! We’ll practice our lab methods, conduct bizarre experiments, and explore the weird, wicked world of Science!

August 24-28: The Last Hurrah! 

            Summer isn’t over until the very end, so we’ll take our last week to shout one last hurrah! We’ll head to the beach, climb the hills, and celebrate like it’s the endless summer we all dream about.

Camp Present Moments: July 27 – August 1

WHO? A summer camp for rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade Westside students and Mary and Lauren (your fearless leaders!)

WHERE? Westside School (current campus) and surrounding parks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.On Tuesday and Thursday, we plan to take excursions to nearby mountains but pick-up and drop-off will always be at Westside.

WHAT? A week of exploring, creating and playing.The theme of the week is to embrace the present moment and find ways to fully engage, experience and awaken the senses.We will strengthen our mind and body with yoga and meditation; develop a sense of place with nature journaling and hiking; and express our creativity with watercolor art and knitting. No experience necessary in any of these things, just a willingness to try!

WHEN? Monday July 27- Friday August 1st, 2015, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

WHY? Because it will be awesome and FUN! And.... You will learn and practice tools that will help you to embrace each and every day, be healthy, manage stress and develop a deeper connection to your home, the magnificent Pacific Northwest.


Lauren Sherwonit is the 6th grade STEM teacher and also a Kripalu certified yoga instructor and a Wilderness First Responder. She loves sunshine, yoga, rock climbing, cooking and hiking.

Mary Kratz is the Middle School Spanish teacher who loves practicing yoga, knitting, tea parties and being outdoors. She is Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified.

Summer Basketball: July 13 – 16

Come for four days of skills, drills, and fun with coach and athletic director Mike Thomas. Camp is open to incoming 4th graders through incoming 7th graders. Camp hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday July 13 to Thursday July 16.  Drop-off and pick-up will take place in the gym at the E.C. Hughes building.
