Parent Association

The Westside School Parent Association (PA) is the community building, and parent and teacher support arm of Westside School. Lead by a team of officers and event chairs, the PA plans and executes a full slate of activities and galvanizes volunteers. All Westside School parents are members of the PA.

The Westside School Parent Association funds events, including student assemblies and activities primarily from Pizza Day sales, Halloween Fest, event concessions, and revenue from Spirit Wear sales – all of which are lead by parent volunteers. PA funds are also used to fund school needs. Last year, the PA purchased athletic uniforms and equipment.

The PA also supports teachers and school administration though organizing room parents, scholastic book orders, and library volunteers.

Westside School Parent Association Sponsored Family Events

Pizza Days

Pizza Day is the biggest fundraiser for the PA. The PA coordinates this fun “hot lunch” the students love, and it gives parents a day off from making a full lunch about every other Friday throughout the school year. The children are encouraged to wear their Westside School Spirit Wear on these days. Even if your child doesn’t eat pizza, have them wear Spirit Wear and get in the school spirit! Click here to order pizza for the 2016 - 2017 academic year. You will need to receive the email containing your child's teacher or advisor assignment before you can complete the order.

Scholastic Book Orders

Books provides quality books for our children at extremely competitive prices. When we order books through Scholastic, we not only get a good deal, but the school earns credits with which to buy books for our classrooms and library. The PA committee chair for Scholastics Book orders will work with a volunteer from each class to coordinate these monthly orders. Let your room parent know if you are interested in helping out!

Quiz Night: Friday, November 4, 2016

Quiz Night is a casual, friendly competition. There are teams of parents and staff answering trivia questions, recorded on answer sheets. A traditional chili dinner is available and guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages. Wine and beer are permitted, so long as no children are on the Westside School campus. Admission is $10 per person will cover dinner, and any proceeds will be put toward WPO funding of school assemblies, a family dance, field day and more.

PA Meetings, Parent Education Series & More

Westside School Parent Association Parent Education Series

Google Groups

Target Audience: Parents of enrolled Westside School students

A Google group allows you to interact with members from the entire community without having to make individual emails or phone calls. Google Groups are a great tool for sharing information, organizing events, and reaching out. Looking for a new nanny? Want to find out where other parents take their kids in West Seattle for haircuts? Just need some advice? Post your query on the Google group website!

To join, go to http://groups.google.com/group/westside-school-parents and click on “apply for group membership,” or email pa@westsideschool.org with your name and email address for an invitation to be sent to you.

Teacher Appreciation

Our Teacher Appreciation lunches are provided to the teachers and staff on in-service days and culminates in a special Teacher & Staff Appreciation Day in May.
