We understand that paying for independent education requires a significant financial commitment from our families. Our Board of Trustees and administrative team make a concerted effort to keep tuition affordable and accessible, and for those families who might not otherwise be able to afford a Westside education we can often provide Tuition Assistance. Our Tuition Assistance program benefits the entire Westside School community by allowing an inclusive student population representative of many socio-economic backgrounds.
Westside offers need-based Tuition Assistance to families of students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. A portion of every tuition dollar supports our Tuition Assistance Fund, which is further supplemented through fundraising.
Families who apply for Tuition Assistance should know that eligibility and award decisions are made independently of admission decisions. There are many factors involved in a family’s decision to apply for Tuition Assistance and both the family and the school have much to consider in both the process and the determination of eligibility. The documents attached below are useful resources and we encourage you to use them to aid in your decision whether or not to apply for Tuition Assistance.
Applying for Tuition Assistance
As a member of NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools), Westside uses School & Student Services (SSS) to gather the information necessary for determining Tuition Assistance eligibility. To fill out an application for Tuition Assistance and learn more about the process, visit the SSS by NAIS for Families website. The code for Westside School is 1796
For new families, award determinations are usually communicated along with enrollment invitations. The deadline for new families to apply for Tuition Assistance is February 28, 2014.
We do our best to communicate the Tuition Assistance award at the time re-enrollment contracts are due. If you are a current family applying for Tuition Assistance for the first time, please let the Business Office know before re-enrollment contracts are distributed. Returning families must re-apply for Tuition Assistance every school year. As both the school’s and a family’s financial status may change from year to year, an award one year does not guarantee the same award the following year. The deadline for returning families to apply for Tuition Assistance is February 28, 2014. Please note that missing this deadline may result in non-renewal of a Tuition Assistance award.
Sudden Financial Hardship. Please reach out to the Business Office if you are experiencing financial hardship. There are limited emergency Tuition Assistance funds available for qualified families.
Please note that all financial aid requests, including financial information and award amounts, are kept completely confidential. Families are expected to keep the amount of their award confidential.
