SPIRIT Fund-a-Wish

Tuition Assistance and Campus Improvements

Every auction, we have two fund-a-wish items during our live auction. One fund-a-wish pays for a special project, and one provides additional funds for our tuition assistance program. They are straight donations, and 100% deductible. Attendees raise their bid cards to make a donation at a certain level, ranging from $50 to $5,000 or $10,000. If you are not able to attend the auction this year, and want to make a donation to one or both of these fund-a-wish items, please send an email to Jana at janar@westsideschool.org.

Fund-a-Wish Tuition Assistance
Every year, a portion of the school’s operating budget is allocated towards tuition assistance. This year, the gap between the allocated amount and the need is approximately $30,000.

When families apply for tuition assistance, they send their application to an outside company, School and Student Service for Financial Aid. This company then sends back their need determination, and Jo Ann and the financial aid committee try to meet each need. This year, every financial aid request was met. We also have some families who will run into financial difficulty during the year, and tuition assistance will allow their child to continue attending Westside even if they can no longer afford it.

Westside is a special community; we are a family. We take care of and support each other. We value all members of our community, and your support of tuition shows that you want to keep our community strong.

Fund-a-Wish Campus Improvements
As with every home, updates and improvements are a necessity. While we are working on a larger plan for our campus, there are improvements that must be made now.

This fund-a-wish includes:

  • Replacement of the original fence with a higher, more attractive one along SW 102nd Street
  • Fresh, fun paint and new lighting for our current cottages
  • Campus landscaping

This fund-a-wish will help enhance our school building while we work toward a lasting, sustainable solution to the growing demand for our unequaled education.

Auction Volunteers Needed!

The auction committee needs a few volunteers on auction night. We need two people for the raffle and 4 people for clean-up. If you can help with the raffle, you are committing to about 30 minutes during the silent auctions; clean-up help is about an hour at the end of the live auction. If you are not attending, you can still help with clean-up. Just show up around 9:30pm. If you can help with either of these, please email Mary at maryharrelson@comcast.net

Our third grade teacher extraordinaire, Joe Tutch, will be the camper’s guide as they travel through Oceania. Art projects inspired by the aborigines of Australia such as Dreamtime Painting, and Mimi Rugs, Saipio Cloth creations from Samoa, and Mat Weaving from Tahiti are just some of the activities awaiting the young travelers. This session will be filled with the colors and textures of the South Pacific.

Dragons from China…July 7-11 from 1:00-4:00
Students entering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in September

Margery Lamden will guide the campers through a world of myths and fantasy. Artists will use a variety of media to express their inner spark. Clay, paper mache, and water colors are just a few of expressions the young artisans will use. This experience is one not to miss.
