Spring Fling DVD
From Jo Ann
Well, it’s the last few hours of the 2007-2008 school year! Tonight, we get to watch our 5th graders graduate, and turn their “school leadership” over to the 4th grade students. This week I was able to meet with our fifth grade graduates to “debrief” their Westside experience and to tell them how proud I am. They are truly confident, articulate and ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I shared my memories of them and they shared their memories with me. Ten have been here since pre-school! We know it’s a history and a relationship that will remain into the future, but it will be hard not to see these families every week.
We’ve had a tremendous year! Thank you to everyone for continuing to make this community so fabulous! From being a mentor, to volunteering in the classroom or for an event or on a committee, to helping with admissions and giving donations to annual giving and to the auction, and for everything in between, you’ve helped make this year great!
We’re looking forward to next year; we’ll have 200 students! For those of you in PS – 4th grade, we can’t wait to see you in September! Look for a packet or two in the mail this summer – we’ll be back before you know it!
Have an excellent summer!

Hooray for Field Day!!
By Carolyn Comick, WPO President
The WPO would like to extend a very special thank you to Susan Oxholm for chairing last Friday’s Field Day. Organizing team leaders, setting up games, and coordinating the entire student body was no small feat! The children had a wonderful time teaming up with Westside students of all grades for indoor fun and games (thanks to the weather!). It all began with an all-school pizza party, followed by an “Olympic” themed series of games and ended with thirst quenching popsicles, as the students watched the much-anticipated 5th grade donut-eating contest.
And thank you to P.E. enrichment teacher Donna for dazzling the students with a spectacular array of games that kept the kids entertained and on their feet. Field Day was a wonderful finale to a fun-filled year of WPO sponsored events and thanks go out to each and every parent that helped support these events through the purchase of pizza and spirit wear.

Thank You for Field Day
By Donna Jornlin, PE Teacher
Kudos & thanks to all of you who helped with pizza, team leads, games, donuts & clean-up on Field Day! Special thanks for the leadership of Susan Oxholm & Mollie Jensen. I couldn’t do it without your support. Mr. B. singing us through transitions added to the festive spirit. Let’s make it a tradition!
