Town Meeting
Wednesday, May 2nd, 6:30pm
What is it about Westside School you do not want to lose as we grow? Come to the Town Meeting on Wednesday and talk to the Westside Board.
If you are not sure who the Board is or what it is they do, this is an opportunity to find out. Lots of work has been done in the areas of facilities planning, defining “diversity” for Westside School and building on our value of an excellent academic program. You will find out what the Facilities Committee, Diversity Task Force and Academic Task Force have been up to this year. Childcare will be available. Please sign up in the office.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame
By Mr. B, 3rd grade teacher
On April 19th, the third graders joined Mr. B at the Seattle Mariner’s game. The event was offered as part of this year’s auction. Baseball-themed math, spelling, and writing activities were integrated into the curriculum days prior to this outing. Students worked on game food budgets, averages, vocabulary words, analogies, and a memory essay. Hours before the game the third graders created colorful signs in support of the Mariners. The children had a great time showing off their spirit to the cameras. In fact, Westside students were on the “Big Screen” three times.
Many parents joined our young fans at the game. Mariner Dogs, drinks, and Dipping Dots were happily consumed by many. A special thank you to Hilda Burton for arranging additional game snacks. In addition, we would like to thank Tracy and Mark Sundberg for arranging parking at the IPM Home Plate Parking Lot.
Although the Mariners lost the game, a good time was had by all!

New Computers
Eighteen new computers were purchased - thanks to everyone who raised their paddle during the auction fund-a-wish, First Class Classrooms for a Premier Education. These computers arrived last week, and are being installed today. By tomorrow, the 3rd and 4/5 classes should be up and running.
